Blog # 1 (due friday)

Today on class we did an experiment with the fallowing:
a pan or bucket like thing with water in it
a pencil
and a cork

Then we took the pencil and dipped it in 60 times or for a minute and what it did was it made the water do a wave like thing but the waves where like in a circle. Then we put the cork in the water and did the same thing as before, we dipped the pencil in for a minute or 60 times and we watched what happend. The questions below are questions we had to answer and here are my answers

1.)How did the cork move when put in the water (Note this wasnt the exact question but its the same idea)

My answer:
It started going up and down and soon enough stoped.

2.)How is its movement similar to the waves movement?

My answer:
There both moveing however the waves are going horizontal and the cork is going vertical.

3.)How is it different?

My answer:
Without the cork its not impossable to see but its harder to see the waves move but with the cork its easier to notice ot see.

We did this experiment because it showed mechanical energy, energy associated with motion. Also because it has to do with what we are learning about = ]
